Problem statement

How often would you come home with your digital camera from a terrific event to transfer fantastic photos you have taken there? Time after time you patiently create folders to put your images in or rely on tools that just do not offer flexibility you want.

Description

imaso (abbreviated from im*age and so*rting) is built to do just that! It is a graphical desktop application aimed at automatically arranging newly acquired pictures into a neatly organized structure – just the way you want it.

imaso achieves the goal through an intuitive user interface that pops out automatically when you connect your camera or another portable storage device. It then allows you to choose which images you want to transfer and which you want to leave on the camera. imaso will never ask to transfer images you have previously taken!

If you are new to imaso please have a look at the GetStarted page where installation and basics are explained.

Features

  • an intuitive and animated user interface
  • JPG file support
  • EXIF metadata support
  • automatic execution when Windows, Linux or Mac OSX detects a removable device with pictures
  • hugely customizable folder structure (using tags and information embedded in pictures through EXIF)
  • robust file-system handling
  • very robust and reliable core algorithm (extensively covered with unit tests)
  • quick database-powered collection checker (does not add images you have already added once)
  • precise detection of new pictures (using MD5 hashes)
  • cross-platform (works on major operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, MacOSX)

New features and teasers for upcoming new versions are presented on the ReleasePlan page.
