FAQWhat do i need to run this application? You need to have the Java Runtime Environment installed (JRE). You can download it at http://www.java.com/. You need Java 6 (aka 1.6) or later to run this application without problems. How do i start it?Usually doubleclicking is enough. If it's not, you maybe do not have Java installed properly. I have Java installed, but doubleclicking doesn't workSometimes the jar extension does not get properly assigned to Java (or some other programs steal it like WinZip). Then you can try "Open With" -> java.exe or try this quick fix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/Jarfix.shtml I can not get it to startStart it from he command line to see what error messages you are getting. Open the command prompt/console and change directory to the folder where the iDPS jar is located. Then type "java -jar iDPSvXrX.jar" (fill in the proper version numbers). Then open a ticket here with a report & the error message you are getting. It doesn't seem to work properlyYou need Java RE 6. Download the latest Java RE if your version is outdated. Where can i report Bugs? Please use the "Issues" feature of this site at the top. Bug reports in coments on the wiki pages will most likely be ignored and deleted. My item X is missingI generally only added items with item level 232+. Only exceptions are very common/popular/easy to obtain items like DMC:G, Mjolnir Runstone, Badge Items etc. How can I add item X?Rename the file from .jar to .zip. Decompress the archive. Look for a file names items.xml. Add your item. Save the file. Zip the folder again and rename it to .jar. If you did everything right it should work, if you did something wrong the application will most likely not start. How can I enchant my items?Right click them. My profession specific Enchant/Gem is missingEnable that profession in the menu bar. What poisons is iDPS using?Instant Poison in your slow weapon, Deadly in the fast one. If they have the same speed, Deadly is used in the Main Hand. What do the talent specs stand for?
It is showing different stats then my paper dollMake sure all of your items/gems are in iDPS. If they aren't included, thei stats won't be added. Also make sure you have the right talents and professions selected. iDPS only imports your items and enchants, not your professions and/or talents. It is showing a different crit rate then my paper dolliDPS shows your crit% vs a L83 target, which is 4.8% lower then your paper doll. |
Pardon me if I'm asking a completely stupid question here, but how do you actually launch the application?
On a Windows OS, that is >.<
Any chance of this becoming web-based through the use of a Java applet? I'd be willing to host on my web server if that is a concern.
To those who don't know how to run iDPS and cannot just double-click and "Run with..." java:
Find your java.exe executable. Usually can be found inside "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin", or something very similar.
Create a shortcut to 'java.exe' on your desktop or whereever you please.
Pull up Properties for that shortcut and in the top field you go to the end of the line and add: -jar C:\PathToJarFile?\iDPSv0.10-r35.jar
An example of a working line could be:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin\java.exe" -jar C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\idps.jar
matthew.rose, i plan on doing that in the future. Stay tuned :)
For those struggling to get the gear pictures and other features working properly on OSX, I've managed to fix it on my macbook. I installed this version of Java http://support.apple.com/downloads/Java_for_Mac_OS_X_10_5_Update_1 then ran the java preferences tool in Applications->Utilities setting the preferred Java version to Java SE 6. I can now add gems, save gear sets and everything I was unable to do on the mac that I could on the PC. :o) Hope that helps a few of you.
Any chance at a makefile or an ant file to build with?
What are the two sets of numbers representing when you look at an item?
For instance:
Frostbitten Fur Boots marrowgar 25 Heroic 624.31 +258.87
I assume the +/- tells me how the item relates to my current item, however what's the first number, AEP ?
First number is the total dps contribution by that item (Basically compared to an empty slot).
it stands for equivalency points. It basically means how much attack power you need for the same dps increase. If ArP has EP of 2.5, it means 1 ArP gives the same dps increase as 2.5 attack power. Basically stats with your highest Ep are the stats that will give you the highest dps increase. Carefull tho, since only adding 1 stat of something can already greatly decrease it's EP (happens alot near the cap).
One more question.. what is ur cap% mines at 66.84, and my cri% is 52.50 but in game it says 44.36.. wsup?
It includes all raid buffs and the crit chance reduction against boss targets.
Hello, first nice job on the soft, I have a question, my AP is lower on Idps than in game (char is Ludax on Garona EU servers) I know that my back item is not recognized but even if I select the first you have in your list, AP is still lower, I also tried to modify the Jar, updating item.xml and putting the stats of my back, still less AP :( any help ?
FYI: there is a post on the Rogue forum of Allakhazam.com about this tool.

It assumes 'all raid buffs' - what about Heroic Presence?
nope
Where is the mining profession?
mining is left out on purpose, as it has zero relevance from a dps POV.
Any chance we could get a toggle for Heroic Presence then? Those of us not playing filthy orcs, trolls, zombies, or their prettyboy friends can pretty reliably count on having it, and it makes a fairly big difference w/r/t managing crit caps in high end gear.
I am currently working on something that wil allow you to toggle all buffs/debuffs, including heroic presence.
First off: Thanks again for developing this tool. I was wondering a bit about the big difference with using a fast 1.4 dagger as mainhand, even if u have a higher dps 1.8mh (looking at lichking25 dagger as offhand, lungbreaker normal as mainhand still beats the other way around) and how the Tiny abomination in a jar is modeled since its better than Whispering fanged skull if you use a fast mainhand, but worse if u choose to play with a slow mainhand. This I havent seen anywhere else around. And Im wondering when we will see the added socketbonuses for all loots? When the entire hc-table is complete? Because there are quite alot of items discovered now in heroic.
Add the t2 arena weps please!! :D!!!
A couple of suggestions:
- Add the Black Magic weapon enchant, since it's great for Mutilate builds now, probably just behind Berserker depending on the gear. Would like to see it in idps;
- When using a Mutilate build, filter the weapon lists to show just daggers, or else the top of the weapon lists will always be populated by axes, swords, and so on.
Superb job. Far more intuitive than the spreadsheets and even adding in items is far quicker. Excellent
Great program, i even figured out how to add more items :)
one thing though: it would be REALLY helpful if the buffs had the ingame names next to the effect. i dont know if i use the "16% melee haste" or "agility/strength" buff because i have no idea what they might be called ingame...
thanks for making idps!!
I am really grateful for this program and it makes items comparing really easy and cuz every item has a drop location there is no need to check on wow head or anything where and on which boss it drops.
Though it would be still good if there would be a list or button that fills talent tree according to some predefine spec as it would make our lives easier and there wouldn't be a need to check talent calculator for every talent (is it not practical to memorize every talent name and what it does). It would be nice to maybe have a talent counter so there is no way someone would accidently insert to many talents.
And I don't know if it's just me or there is no easy way to go back to basic menu for talents, buffs etc. As far as I got it you must rechose some gear or gem to get back to it. Maybe a click on empty space where stats are would do it instead.
And an idea for the future: Maybe there would be nice to have a button that would equip the most optimal gems to a chosen set of gear (considering a gem cost too [example: 2x haste + AP > 1 x haste and 1x AP]).

Could there be an easier way to get back to the menu to choose buffs/debuffs/etc?
And, as the person above me said, could there be a way to click a button that will automatically optimize gems and maybe show the optimization visually compared to the gems you already have? Like add another row of gems alongside the ones you have and make them opaque-like to show the optimal ones?
Thanks.
Hi Great program! But... In previous version, with exact same gear as now and combat specc, the optimal red gem was 20 arp, now it is 40 ap.
have some issue or what... idps started, i downloaded my character from armory, i see my equip, gems, can manage items and idps shows valuable of items, but all stats is missing... :(
I simply cannot get this program to run, no matter what I do. Very dissapointed 8(
What exactly is the problem? Email me if you'd like.
Hello, I have an Apple OS X 10.5.8 fully updated on the PowerPC CPU arch. I have read the tips about OS X and I can not launch the program; neither from the terminal or by double-clicking the jar file. When running from the terminal ...
java -jar iDPSv0.17r112.jar Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError?: Bad version number in .class file
In Java Prefs I have the options of J2SE 5.0 (32-bit) and J2SE 1.4.2 (32-bit). System defaults to use J2SE 5.0, but I have tried to use both and I get a different error when using J2SE 1.4.2.
The error above is when using J2SE 5.0 (32-bit).
Thank you for your help. I'm looking forward to using this tool. ~Martin
This application uses Java technology introduced with Java 6. Sadly Apple decided not to supply Java 6 to the PPC architecture. So if you are using a PPC Mac you are out of luck, sorry.
I'm trying to run this on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.3) with java version 1.6.0_20. When I run the app (from the command line, but the same issue occurs when double-clicking), I get this error: {{{Java version 1.6.0_20 detected. Races loaded. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException?
I tried running it in 32-bit mode, but no dice. Any ideas?
Does it take into account trinket procs?
im using windows vista64bit and i cannot work out how to use this? Any advise please
I hope you can implement the elixirs we talked about via email.
Elixir of Accuracy, Elixir of Armor Piercing, Elixir of Expertise, Elixir of Lightning Speed and Elixir of Mighty Agility if possible.
Thanks in advance
I had no issue downloading, importing my rogue, tweaking settings, etc ... very nicely done. However, there is an option to "save all" that I assume will let me go back and tweak without redownloading the file but I cannot figure out how to recover the program without downloading it again and starting from scratch. It doesn't actually "install" as a program so how do I do this?
Anyone working on this have a mac that could potentially make an iphone app out of this?
