I want to menage my 3rd party applications from my windows computer on an already unlocked iphone will idemocracy work for me? i will greatly appreate your responce.

Not quite yet, qaseem5. Someday soon though :) iDemocracy 1.1 is currently only for the jailbreaking.

I assume that iD2 must be on the verge of release. But t would be great if it could counter-attack 1.1.2(launching this Friday) and iTunes 7.5(already up and running on apple.com).

Having said that, there are still users running previous firmwares like 1.0.2 and 1.0.1 that are unlocked by simfree. Will iD2 take care of them and help them virginize,upgrade and jailbreak?

i bought an iphone off ebay which was unlocked version1.1.1. i played around with ibrickr trying to install it(yes, im an idiot. biggest mistake) and somehow through that restored and downgraded to 1.0.2. so the phone now needs activation. so far i have restored it to 1.1.1 but it's still needs activation. what can i do to make it fully unlocked, myself? i use pc btw. really hope you can help me.

luca.ceci: Glad you like the work so far! iDemocracy 1.1 will not work for you without Wi-Fi! Wi-Fi is absolutely essential.

However, iDemocracy 2.0 is different :) My advice is to wait for the 16th and your problems just might be solved.

If your PC and your iPhone have Wi-Fi you have no problems with v1.1 However, if you want a quicker, Wi-Fi-less way, wait a little while longer.

@jeronimorv: With iD2 you just might be able to using the newly developed CARNAVAL-based Non-WiFi? super-quick Jailbreak 1.1.1 method... as long as you can connect your iPhone with the cable you can restore and jailbreak without need of WiFi? (in under 5 minutes!!). That should solve your problem :)

I have a ver 1.0.2, jailbreaked with iBrickr, unlocked using i.unlock.no (iUnlock). Not upgraded yet as waiting on a tool which will allow me to do that, make YouTube? work, make T-Mobile work in US, bluetooth-edge etc. work, and run version 1.1.2 all in one.

I am waiting on iD2 for the same, do you think that is a correct assumption? If yes, will it cover revirginizing, downloading correct version upgrades, and unlocking all in one? Of course, the other promised apps in iD2 are a bonus :-)

an update - my above question was basically because your following warning (http://code.google.com/p/idemocracy/) had me confused on what to expect in iD2:

@winner78: If you're unlocked it's not a good idea to try an upgrade with iTunes as you'll likely get bricked. What you need to do is wait for iD2, use it to revirginize, then continue with the process of upgrading to 1.1.1/1.1.2

Hi, I'm excited to see your 1.1.2 jailbreaking software (iD2). I noticed you pointed out that you need a virgin iphone and it will not sim-unlock.

So am I right in thinking that, on my unmodified 1.1.2 iPhone, which i hope to continue using with the 02 UK contract that came with the iphone, it'll work fine and offer me lots of third party applications? I don't need to use any other sim cards, I just want applications.

iD2 should jailbreak and activate for you if you're not planning on unlocking. I haven't tested this, however, so there's always some uncertainty :)

hi there....this is the first time im using this program and have to tell you it rocks!!!! i have unlocked and done all the iphone dance on mac thus far.... i have one question for you....i noticed iD2 allows one to fix the sms app and the keypad dialing problem....now i am already on 1.1.2 and resolved the issue by going to frameworks and then hex-editing the 'appsupport file' to make it work in india...do u suggest i run the iD2 fix as well or is it not required.....secondly if i may also ask u this....now that i have edited the aforementioned file do u think i will have a problem when i am on international roaming as i have customised the file to work in india...thanx a ton...cheers ratik

pscp keep saying access denied! i don't know what to do :( Symlink won't install either.. I guess it's probably because of the same error. The program seems great anyway, but i must be doing something wrong I guess. The ip is right, i have 192.168.1.102 on iphone and 192.168.1.101 on notebook. please help

Yes, it installs correctly. If I don't have it installed it says request timed out or something. It connects to the iphone, but the iphone refuses the connection I guess. I'm starting over, maybe I have done something wrong.

actually it says you can use it to jailbreak it but not unlock which is what I'm wanting to do.

I too have had problems running Symlink and getting "access denied"... And the iDemocracy 2 Installer doesn't allow for other sources to be installed, what gives? How can I add other sources for more packages?

@toniophone: Cual firmware hay en tu iPhone ahora? Para virginizar, necesitas el firmware 1.0.2 en tu iPhone y tienes que jailbreak el iPhone 1.0.2 y instalar OpenSSH antes de virginizar. Despues de virginizarlo, puedes instalar el firmware 1.1.1 y usar "Short Method" en iD2. Luego, puedes usar el "1.1.2 Method" para hacer el jailbreak al firmware 1.1.2. @techgooroo: Access denied means OpenSSH didn't install properly, most probably. And the Installer.app packaged with iD2 should allow for more sources. (Is it upgraded to 3.0b8 or whatever is latest?)

OpenSSH installed in at least a functioning state (I am using ssh.com's client to connect successfully). Is there so other sort of configured state that SSH needs to be in?

Then it says "SSH Installation is complete!" BTW, I notice that many of the scripts don't do simple return code checking (does iD2 create logs? that would be a great feature), that would greatly increase the visibility of problems areas when they arise.

Hola, esto es para ti "TONOIOPHONE" yo tube el mismo problema exactamente pero mi iphone tenia la version de 1.1.1 inicial, lo desbloquee sin problemas y listo, pero cuando actualizo para el 1.1.2 me causo infinidad de problemas entre ellos perder mis contactos, de hecho ahorita lo tengo casi al 100% pero aun tengo problemas.

Al grano como le hice finalmente, si no lo tienes bloqueado lo que tienes que hacer es:

1. Entra a modo de restauracion y repara al 1.0.2 completo, y asi tendras el iphone en 1.0.2 con modem 3.1 o algo asi, si no funciona intenta el downgrade de nuevo, pero asegurate de que este conectado tu telefono a la base y tambien a la wiFi.

2. Otro modo es entra a panel de control en windows, herramientas de administrativas, servicios y dale click en finalizar "apple movile device" ya que cierre vuelve a activarlo y cierra esa ventana. Ahora concta tu telefono e intenta hacer el downgrade desde idemocracy 2.0, si no se puede intenta el downgrade completo y te lo hara con el modem la version 3.0 y ya posteriormente continuas con todo el proceso del jailbreak.

This is Funny... I guess I came here for Help, and it turns out I am ahead of the crowd! ;-) Afterall... This is the place where iDemocracy came from... That is what I used folks! I did a simple search, and found the steps to do it very easily. But... I do believe in what goes around comes around, so hopefully I will get my question answered soon... OK... Here it is in a nutshell... (These instructions are for a Brand New iPhone with the serial number of 45 or higher, which is the week of production by Apple INC. For those who don't know, that is the 4th and 5th digit of your serial number.)

First, Downgrade to 1.1.1. through DFU. Use the AppSnapp? method to jailbreak your 1.1.1 Phone. Then OctoPrep? the Phone through Installer. Connect to itunes and click "Update" to the newest 1.1.2. (Don't RESTORE) Then finally... Use the awesome iDemocracy 2.0, click on the 1.1.2 Tab, click on the Big button on the left that says "Jailbreak 1.1.2." Then you reboot iPhone, it will then reboot again automatically after you reboot, and Bara Bing Bara Boom, my new iphone that was originally stock from Apple running 1.1.2, is now back on 1.1.2 with all the languages such as German, Italian, French, British English, Google DETAILED Street Maps of ENTIRE Europe, etc, etc... I just NEED to know how to UNLOCK the Sim, so my iPhone actually is a PHONE! :-) Now I feel like I have a Fancy Smancy Ipod Touch! WiFi?, Itunes Music Store, YouTube?, everything works... This site states that iDemocracy 2.1 will be released soon... I'm waiting patiently... Let me know if I can help out with solving / coding of the SIM Unlock folks... Thanks.

first id like to congratulate you on a wonderful utility. My question is this.. i have an otb 1.1.1 iphone that i upgraded to 1.1.2 then downgraded to 1.1.1 ran anysim1.1.2u ran oktoprep upgraded back to 1.1.2 and ran jailbreak1.1.2 and ssh'd lockdownd into the phone. can i use your tool to virginize this phone after i have unlocked it via this method?

@yuvalpinker: are you puttin the phone in DFU mode? if you do, it should ask which version of fw you'd like to load when you press the restore button while holding down shift...

@George.Germanos - yes, i know . i've selected the appropriate 1.1.1 FW file, but after the restore is over, itunes says that my FW is up-to-date and m iphone is bricked which i think means that i'm in 1.1.2. the iphone is stuck in revoery mode (itunes symbol + cable) does anyone know out to get out from this situation (without downgrading to 1.0.2 ???

Hi HenryW. I also have an OTB week45 iPhone. I downgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbroke. Didn't upgrade it later to 1.1.2 though. I'm also waiting for the SIM unlock. Hope these guys find out how to do it soon, since all I have now is the world's most expensive jailbroken 8GB iPod Touch.

If anyone has some news on this matter, please post them ASAP.

I think this tools looks great, however, it seems like it is ideal for folks who are familiar with MAC and/or iPod from the past.

It will look like criticism below, please do not think I do not appreciate the amount of work and enthusiasm that has gone in. Just trying to be productive.

What is missing is a good flow information. There are many functional blocks on iD 2.0.x, but no instructions, like iD 1.1. In other words, let's say if I have a 1.0.2, already unlocked, what should I do? The LONG and Short method are there. But who should use them? Can I start with 1.0.2, or 1.1.1, etc. And when I start, should I just go in order?

In my case, when I clicked "check" in short method, it told me "it is not jailbroken yet, did you rum jail???.com yet?". Well I am confused. "jailbreak" was the next button. Do I go in order? The iD1.1 had line by line instructions for each step.

There are not many existing state and expected state combinations. Rather than answering many questions, it would be more effective to write such instructions.

Also, explanation of some terms might decrease amount of questions. What is unlocking, jailbreaking, activating, appTapping, virginizing, etc.

I know you are anxious to help people and answer questions flowing, What I am trying to say is, some organization work upfront may save a lot of questions, free up your time.

I have a pirated version of Windows, and I only have .NET Framework 2.0. Will installing the 3.0 version screw up my computer?

Hi, i have an iphone 1.1.2 with the new bootloader 4.06, which i wanted to jailbreak, so i started following the "long method" of iDemocracy, i downgraded it followed the steps, I installed BSD subsystem and open SSH, but then when I clicked symlink, it kept saying invalid port, so i was stuck and i did something stupid i tried to restore it to 1.1.2 firmware hoping everything would be alright, as if nothing never happened, and now the iphone is stuck in DFU mode, i can't find a way to get it out of it, ive restored it to every firmware but there's an error each time and AppTapp? can't get it out of DFU mode, is there any way i could undo this and get my working unaltered iphone back? if there isn't a way, could i bring it to apple for repair or should i basically throw it in the trash?

iDemocracy NOW SUPPORTS FW 1.1.2. However, it cannot unlock OTB 1.1.2 iPhones running bootloader 4.06 (yet). There will be a release 2.1 shortly after the release on the 16th which will add this functionality as soon as possible.

davide.brechot, just dock your iPhone, close iTunes, start iNdependence and wait. It will kick it out of DFU in a few seconds. If it doesn't, undock your iPhone and dock it again. It's worked for me every time I changed my iPhone software. Still waiting for the sim unlock for my week 45 1.1.2 OTB.

My iphone is on it's way from the states. I hope the realese of iDemocracy 2.1 will come out before I got the iphone.

fbario, there was absolutely NO WAY of kicking out of DFU, and itunes would not restore it i tried every firmware, until finnally i tried to restore to 1.1.2 twice in a row and it failed the first time but the second time it worked, and after that i was able to kick it out of DFU.

Can I install iDemocracy 2.1 on a PC; jailbreak it and then return to my mac environment and use Itunes 7.5 normally? Is it either a PC or mac for the iphone or can I operate in both platforms? Idemocracy was recommended by a friend. I have an 02 ifone and am eager to jailbreak it. Can I use 2.0.2 to do this?

i am a current AT&T user with a perfectly working phone. My phone, i believe, is week 46 because those are the 4th and 5th digits of my serial and im obviously running 1.1.2. Now ALL i want to do is add themes and perhaps change a few icons like the battery charging one. Should i download this software or is it just going to mess up my phone?

Huving a problem. Got all the way to step 9 in the process, working fine after some trial and error, but I check installer, and it says that BSD & OpenSSH are already installed, so I installed Mobile Stack as per the instructions then attempted to uninstall DropbearSSH. When PuTTY attempts to link up to my iPhone it says "Network Error: Connection Refused". What did I do wrong? I tried reinstalling OpenSSH, but it gives me an error whenever I try to uninstall it. Is there a step that I'm missing here? Please let me know.

For those who are getting "access denied" when trying to upload new ringtones. The resolution is opening Open SSH in your iPhone apps and changing the password to 'alpine'.

i assume that the default password iDemocracy uses to SSH into the phone is alpine

I downloaded the Dotnetframework3 and the Idemocracy files but they do not work. What else do I need to get this going? Also I am using this for my ipod touch. will the downgrade work so I can use it on the Ipod? I had an ipod touch with 1.1.1 but I accidentally upgraded and need to downgrade any ideas?
