Howto install iChabber.app to your device.

Download and unzip the application, copy iChabber.app to the device using your preferred method.

In OSX and linux systems you can copy it with ssh, for example. Type the following commands in console:

$ cd <Directory with iChabber.app>
$ scp -rp iChabber.app root@ipod:/Applications/

Perhaps, Windows users will like to use iphonedisk for access to device file system. If the application is copied with iphonedisk, you will need to change the application attribute. Use ssh or mobile terminal to change the attribute.

SSH way:

$ ssh root@ipod chmod +x /Applications/iChabber.app/iChabber

Mobile terminal:

$ chmod +x /Applications/iChabber.app/iChabber

Reboot the device to display the application icon.

hey mate i would like to host your application into my repo this is my site iSpazio.net contact me at infinity@ispazio.net

Comment by kentyman, Apr 10, 2008

When I tried to update to 1.8 from iSpazio.net, Installer.app crashed during "Installing package...".

I tried uninstalling 0.9 and then installing 1.8 from scratch, but ended up running into the same problem.

Ah, I was out of disk space.

Same issue as above... freezes on the 'lightbulb' screen.

Comment by chad.kouse, Jun 23, 2008

Incase anyone didn't figure it out.. you need to chmod a+x iChabber.app/iChabber to make this thing run (on my phone at least)

--chad p.s. -- go check out TuneWiki? :)

Is there a chance that this app will be added to the AppStore? soon?

Comment by Prometheus3k, Aug 22, 2008

No matter what I do I get the bulb then it goes back to the springboard. I tried everything to make this work. I am on 2.1. What I did was download the zip, extracted to desktop. Connected to iphone with winscp and copied it over to iphone applications folder. Then I right clicked on iChabber.app and saw that it said it was 0755. I went into iChabber.app right clicked on iChabber and checked it, it was 0644 so I changed it to 0755. Rebooted iPhone and still no love. What am I doing wrong?

Comment by vinnitu, Oct 16, 2009

Tried running it but it dies instantly. It complains about some LayerKit?? framework missing. Where can one find the binaries for this ? (or the sources and the include files to compile it on the iPhone).

Please bear in mind that most ppl that have iphones don't have macs. I'm one of them. (I could compile it on the iphone if I had the required include files - now it can barely compile helloworld.c - or on a linux machine under the same conditions).

Thanks!
