Vietnamese Spell Checker

We are developing a set of spell checking dictionaries for Vietnamese, based on the Hunspell spell checking engine.

Firefox and Thunderbird

Minh Nguyễn has packaged the Vietnamese spell checking dictionaries as an extension for Firefox and Thunderbird, version 2.0 or above. The extension provides two dictionaries: one that prefers the new style of accent marks (e.g., xoá), and one that prefers the old style (xóa).

• Install the latest release for Firefox or Thunderbird. Please write a review at the extension's listing.
• Alternatively, grab the latest code from the Subversion repository and build the vi_dictionary.xpi file that you can install into Firefox or Thunderbird:

svn co http://hunspell-spellcheck-vi.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ hunspell-spellcheck-vi
cd firefox_thunderbird/
./build.sh
