In a world where logic is frowned upon, two (sometimes three) heroes rise from the back alley way of a newspaper corporation…

…Saving the world (well, sort of) one hamburger at a time.

Join them as they travel throughout a psychedelic world of music, excitement, fire, junk food, stick figures, coconuts, and disco. You play as two offbeat heroes who are trying to stop the evil Dr. Geoff from taking over the world. But, they don't have to brave it alone…usually. Also play as a fun loving bubble blower at times during their quest.

Humm and Strumm is a cooperative but independent multiplayer game. Players can either play on the same computer or over a LAN network. Some tasks require both players to complete, but each player is free to explore the world on their own. One catch: if your teammate dies, you both need to restart from the last autosave point.

This game is fully three-dimensional, with a breath-taking musical soundtrack. We are aiming to have a scalable game that supports both the newest and the less-new hardware configurations to target the largest base possible. If you run Windows or GNU/Linux, you are probably supported. Music will also be of high quality in the Ogg Vorbis format, either rendered from a score or performed live.

This game is completely open-source, released under the GNU GPL 3.0 and the CC-BY-SA 3.0, which means that you can freely download, edit, and use this game however you want. If you distribute the game at all, in its original or modified form, however, you must, include the corresponding source code/resources with the game. This qualifies Humm and Strumm as both Free Software and Open Source Software. You can read the exact licenses on our wiki, under CCBYSAv3 and GPLv3.

Using this Project

On Google Code, you can find several helpful tools for both users and developers alike. These can be found at the tabs on the top of the page, which are:

  • Project Home (this page; contains general information about the project)
  • Downloads (holds recent releases of the game and instructions on how to install them)
  • Wiki (only editable by developers, but anyone can comment)
  • Issues (provides a way to report bugs to developers and request features)
  • Source (allows access to the source code via Subversion)

At the right, you can find all the related sites you need to work with the game. Briefly, they are:

  • Google Groups
    • Developers' Group (only available to developers of this project, but anyone can view)

    • Contributors' Group (anyone can request to join; serves as a method of communication with the developers and submission of contributions)
    • Updates Group (anyone can join; provides automatic updates on the repository)
  • Blogger (for development news)
  • Google Calendar (for upcoming development deadlines)

Also, you can subscribe to several Atom feeds to keep updated of changes in this project. The feeds for this website can be found at the left, and the other pages also have feeds that to which you can subscribe.
