IntroductionIn the first (0.1) version Gscreendump saved screenshots in JPEG format. However JPEG (JPG) is not open format, therefore I've later changed the default format to PNG. DetailsYou can easily check the current file format in GNOME's registry where Gscreendump saves its values. Start "gconf-editor" from command line and browse to "apps" -> "gscreendump". $ gconf-editor Change the value of "screenshot_basename" to screenshot%03d.png See this picture:
