Choose at least four open source frameworks or cms, Drupal included, and
compare them, technically their flexibility and easy to use. Its prefered
that you choose software that you have not used before.

Points to take into consideration:

a) Requierements: s.o., language, web server, database.
b) Installation: problems that you find, technical level that its needed
c) Configuration: basic and advanced
d) First content creation: create your first pages of content

And then try to find out:

e) Flexibility (creation of themes)
f) Extension (can easily grow to be better/more adapted? can be integrated
with other software?)
g) Capabilities (Produces standard content?, is accesible?)
...

As a conclusion explain the good and the bad of every framework and
determine which would you choose to make your next project (explain the
type of project).

FRAMEWORKS SUGGESTED (any other that you find is welcome): Drupal, Joomla,
Typo3, Movable Type, Wordpress, Textpattern, Alfresco, Plone.

Estimated time:
4 to 5 days.

OK, I hope this is what you guys wanted. It sort of sounded like a mini-review to me,
and I tried to be as objective as possible. Please give me feedback as to how I can
adapt it further to your needs, as it is still in a sort of rough draft stage.

Webchickenator - is it OK if I post here instead of Drupals website? Will you be able
to follow from Google's own setup?

You can view it here:

Yep, that's great! I'll go alert the folks on drupal.org so they can review your work.

OK, draft 2 is out. I addressed some of the issues Keith talked about over at the
Drupal discussion including some grammar and clarity on the Drupal install issues.

I was a little unclear, and forgot to mention some concerns I had over Drupal's
installation process. Even though it went fine for me, I believe others without
database experience might get confused. However I realize some sort of user
interaction is needed for install so I redrafted to reflect that. I don't know if
anything can be done about the MySQL configuration, I suppose its nothing that can be
changed from Drupal's end, and it all depends on who hosting the site.

As for the issues the borg asked about, can I include a chart from www.cmsmatrix.org
on the 4 reviewed?
Comment 8 by webchickenator, Dec 07, 2007
Sure, that sounds like a reasonable addition. And thanks for the clarification!

Once you update the document with the comparison chart, I'll go ahead and mark this
as "Closed" :)

Hey,

Unfortunately I can't attach anything, it says underneath my comment box

Can someone please fix this?

Thanks
