There is a missing colong after "-r" in one of the two assemblies listed in the gdata-shar-core.pc file. See attached patch.

I don't get it. That was fixed march 25th, 2009. So you must have used some really old version of the file

Just click on the 'Download' link above and download http://google- gdata.googlecode.com/files/libgoogle-data-mono-1.4.0.2.tar.gz

It says it was released in February 2009, so that's probably it.

Ok, so that issue is fixed since then. Just need to update the tar in the future.
