GoBibleCore
The GoBibleCore Engine.

The GoBibleCore engine supports both MIDP 1.0 and MIDP 2.0 phones. It is the software which displays the Bible text on the phone and allows the user to browse, search, send SMSes, etc.

Building

Building JavaME applications can be difficult since they depend on various API libraries which may come from different sources depending on the platform you are developing on.

The first step is to check out the source code using SVN. Go to the Source tab above and follow the Google code instructions for how to use SVN to get the source.

Change into the GoBibleCore directory where you will find the ReadMe.txt file. The ReadMe.txt file contains additional instructions for configuring the build.xml file to successfully build GoBibleCore.

Some tools GoBibleCore requires for building or testing:

I'm a Java developer (currently working with JSE and JEE) and would like to contribute with some code patches for improving the GoBible project.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the source for GoBibleCore. My initial intent to learn is to improve the bookmark capabilities by adding some categories and maybe the so called tagging functionality to bookmark verses. Another functionality I was looking to contribute later would be a synonym dictionary database so one can search for sibling words and not miss an important verse because of the translation version.

As an newbie at JME specific development I'd appreciate some tips on setting up a basic environment, specific platform tricks, testing and other stuff you may find useful to share.
