Installing on a 32 bit GNOME Gutsy Gibbon system
- Open a terminal
- Create a folder (mkdir nameofthefolder) and move (cd nameofthefolder) into that folder
- Get the installations packages and files with the following instruction
- Unarchive them
- Install them
- We now have to copy some files in the right directory of your system
wget http://dl.free.fr/mNz2tukHZ/lbgtk2.0-0-aqd-v3.172.tar.bz2
tar xvf lbgtk2.0-0-aqd-v3.172.tar.bz2
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
sudo cp GNOME_GlobalMenuApplet.server /usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_GlobalMenuApplet.server
sudo cp -R original/gnome2-globalmenu-applet /usr/lib/gnome-applets/
- Right-click on the panel and click add to the panel. Look for Global Menubar. Add it. And voila. It should work.

perhaps need a cd -applet/ before copying.
it also depends on libcairo-directfb2-dev libcairo-directfb2
Also, the initial wget command won't work. Go to that page directly to download the file.

Thanks for this cool applet. But, is there a way to hide the arrow buttons and change the background? I'm having a problem with the background not being the same as the panel's background. Also, this does not seem to work with Azureus Vuze (the older macmenu worked well with it).

missed package?
I like the concept of this application however I find at least two applications this doesn't work with are Openoffice, and firefox. While I plan on continuing to leave this installation in place, how do I go about removing it should it become a problem?
Could someone create a PPA at launchpad.net and maintain packages for globalmenu? It would be an effective "launch pad" for this very promising applet!
