It would be nice to have an option to make the window list showing only the
windows of the current desktop instead of all windows of all desktops.

I agree. The taskbar applet allows you to choose.

@lviggiani, should we add an option?

Ok. But at the moment I don't really have time to work on the applet... :(
If people can wait until the end of March I can do this and all the other pending
issues from my side...

In fact, it seems to be not really needed. Another way to get a useful behaviour:
Make sure when anyone click on an item in the menu, Global menu switch the workspace
to show the appropriate window, if needed. The current behaviour is, that nothing
happens when I click on an item whose window doesn't reside in the current workspace.

this is a much needed improvement. i cant as of now switch an application to another
workspace after i have launched it. that is if one has a dock. btw one rather
inconvenient way of doing it is by clicking on the appropriate app icon of the dock
and then switching its workspace.

As I already wrote, choosing a window from the window menu doesn't change the workspace. But not always! This seems to be the behavior in Metacity, Openbox and some other WM's. Now I've tested it with Compiz (Ubuntu Maverick) and it works fine. I click on any window menu entry, and Compiz follows the window, as desired.
