IMPORTANT: Before reporting an issue, make sure it hasn't been fixed in the
latest version:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/issues/list?q=label:Milestone-Release0.7.3
Make also sure to use an up-to-date Vala version.
------------------------
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Updated to version 0.7.3 from the PPA
2. Issue occured on build previous to 0.7.3 from PPA as well

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
See attached file for screenshot - leftmost is the initial window,
rightmost is what I see when I resize it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.7.3, Intrepid. Gnome 2.24.1.

Please provide any additional information below.
Issue occurs when installing from PPA, both when after uninstalling
completely, reinstalling, uninstalling completely and logging out then
reinstalling, and so on.

It's possible there may be a permissions issue with my home directory, as
I've moved it off this drive and back once before - although every other
file and folder works with no issues.

More or less likely to be a miss installation of the gconf schema in the ppa. can you
check?
Comment 2 by kvanderslice384, Feb 09, 2009
I'd be glad to - how do I go about doing that?
Comment 3 by galadia, Feb 09, 2009
Confirming here. Fresh installation on Ubuntu 8.10, I found no key using gconf-editor :(
Comment 4 by kvanderslice384, Feb 09, 2009
Nothing found in gconf-editor either.
Comment 5 by ThomHolwerda, Feb 09, 2009
I can confirm the issue on Ubuntu Intrepid, with the .deb file from the PPA. There's
nothing in gconf here either.

Issue 327 has been merged into this issue.
Comment 7 by lviggiani, Feb 09, 2009
The same happened to me even after installing from source.
Anyway, just log out and log in again. Then it works.
Comment 8 by rainwoodman, Feb 09, 2009
this is very weird!
Comment 9 by ThomHolwerda, Feb 10, 2009
Iviggiani:

Logging in/out doesn't do it for me, nor does a reboot, reinstallation, complete
removal/reinstallation, etc.
Comment 10 by john.m.lang, Feb 12, 2009
This solved the blank prefs issue for me. I installed from the launchpad PPA.

sudo cp /usr/etc/gconf/schemas/gnome-globalmenu.schemas /etc/gconf/schemas/
gconftool --install-schema-file /etc/gconf/schemas/gnome-globalmenu.schemas
