Keygrab with gnomenu.window doesn't work if GlobalMenu widget is integrated
into a WM, saying gnomeshell.

the reason is because if the 'user_data' of the root window is set, Gtk
will eat all messages from the root before the wm receives them. then the
wm gets dumb.
