in order to enable ajaxing some of our forms, it would be nice if we could
have viewlet based views, have some form of traversability such that we
could do a direct post to them, and return the results inline to the page.

probably not going to happen, i've actually done work to allow for this in a separate
z3 project and it works well, but its also not the plone way.. at the point that
plone starts to implement some of these features we should probably adopt them, else
i'm wary of getting into supporting features beyond the scope of what plone supports,
as historically its just painful to maintain. if your interested in though ;-) it
basically amounts to registering a traverse adapter for views, that looks up a
viewlet by name, and a jquery binding the viewlet to submit the viewlet to a munged
url that invokes the traverser and does html replace with the results of the
xmlhttprequest submission.
