Welcome to GeneTrack

Note

GeneTrack has been completely rewritten and has been integrated into the LionDB LIMS.

Users only need to upload a GeneTrack index file (see the docs), all other steps are automatically performed.

Introduction

GeneTrack is a bioinformatics software package for storing, querying and visualizing interval oriented data. It was developed, improved and simplified and over many years, with accessibility, extensibility and performance as its most important goals. It provides:

  • a framework and application programming interface for efficient data storage including:
    • fast query and retrieval of genomic intervals
    • a data fitting functionality that can combine and average multiple noisy measurements
    • a peak detection algorithm that can identify maximal and non-overlapping peaks
  • a charting and visualization layer for displaying the stored data
  • a web enabled interface that makes the plots accessible via a browser

The software was written in Python programming language, it has very few external dependencies and it is available under the MIT Public License.

Documentation

A detailed documentation is accessible through the web and it is also included in the source code download as well.

Deployments

Genetrack is being actively used in research. The following sites are running our software:

As well as several others sites that are currently under review (and will be made public once the processes are completed).
