IntroductionThe Google Data plug-in needs to be installed in Eclipse before you can use it. This page illustrates the steps to install the plug-in in Eclipse. Pre-requisites- JDK (Java Development Kit) version 1.5+
- Eclipse version 3.3+ and either of the following packages:
- Eclipse IDE for Java Developers
- Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers
- Eclipse for RCP/Plug-in Developers
- Eclipse Classic
- Eclipse Modeling Tools (only in Ganymede packages)
- Eclipse IDE for Java and Report Developers (only in Ganymede packages)
- GData Java Client library version any. If you want to use the Google Health template, then required version is 1.17.0+ . You can download a latest archive from here.
Plug-in Installation StepsNOTE: Installation Steps for Eclipse Ganymede packages differ slightly from the ones shown below. - Step 1: Start Eclipse. Go to 'Software Updates' in 'Help' menu and then click on 'Find and Install'.
- Step 2: Select 'Search for new features to install' and then press the 'Next' button.
- Step 3: Now on this page click on 'New Remote Site'.
- Step 5: The name which you just entered will appear in the 'Sites to include in search' list. Make sure it is checked (if not check it) and press the 'Finish' button.
- Step 6: A dialog will open up and ask you to select the features which you want to install. So, select Google Data Plug-in (or the Name which you had typed in Step 4) and progress further by clicking on 'Next' button.
- Step 7: The License page will open up. Read the license agreement. Then if you agree to the license terms, click on 'I accept the terms in the license agreement' and then click on 'Next' button.
- Step 8: A verification dialog will open up. Just click 'Install All'.
- Step 9: After installation, an Eclipse restart dialog will be popped up. Just hit 'Yes' (if you want to..) and then you are all set to use the plug-in and create Google Data projects on the fly.

thank you
In OSX it doesn't work exactly like this, but close enough. Thanks for the instructions.
Very clear
why I cannot get url"http://gdata-java-client-eclipse-plugin.googlecode.com/svn/updatesite"
your url is wrong. the eclipse shows the message repository not found. Just click on the link and u will see nothing.
the google guys please take a look at this. I pasted ur url in eclipse ganymaede and it says not a repository.
or at least tell, how to install it manually.
To 254288...@qq.com: You cannot get the url because there is a typo in the url which you have pasted. The updatesite is with hyphen i.e. update-site. The correct url is http://gdata-java-client-eclipse-plugin.googlecode.com/svn/update-site
good work dude... awesome help
Will it work with android projects?
I had problems to find the repositories. I tried opening Eclipse with sudo (administrator) and then everything was fine.
Any updates on the plugin so it supports the Google Finance API ?
very clear
THANKS!!!!!!
Hello,
i've try this on my linux debian (testing) on eclipse (3.2.0), the plugin install correctly but i can't find it when i want to create a new creation (on the "other" label), neither in the "help"->"about"->"plugin details" but i can see it in "help"->update"->"configuration".
Do you know a fix ?
Thks.
Hey.. Do you have EMF (Eclipse Modeling Framework) installed? You can find this out at Help --> Software Updates --> Manage Configuration. Eclipse Classic does not have the EMF package in it. But when you follow the installation process as listed above, you also get an option to download and install EMF along with the Google Data Plug-in. If you don't find EMF installed, you can either re-install this plug-in with EMF package checked or go to http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/downloads/?project=emf and follow the instructions to get it set up.
If you are still having problems, then email me at kunalmshah.userid@gmail.com since this is not a very convenient place to continue with troubleshooting threads.
what about netbeans? On netbeans you have to manually install over ten jars into the library manager?
How do we install for ECLIPSE GANYMEDE ??
1. Start Eclipse, then select 'Help > Software Updates'. 2. In the dialog that appears, select the 'Available Software' tab. 3. Click on 'Add Site' and in place of 'Location' enter http://gdata-java-client-eclipse-plugin.googlecode.com/svn/update-site 4. The update site will appear in the 'Available Software' list. Make sure it is checked (if not check it) and press the 'Install' button. 5. Eclipse will calculate the dependencies and a feature review dialog will open up. 6. Review the features to be installed and click 'Next'. 7. Read the license agreements and then select 'I accept the terms in the license agreements' (if you do so). Click 'Next'. 8. You will then be asked be asked if you would like to restart Eclipse. Click Yes.
After step five Eclipse Gandymede says Cannot complete the request. See the details.
Thanks for this. The interface and names of things are a bit different with Galileo but it's not too far off.
There is a dependency on google-commons (com.google.commons.collect.Maps) that is not resolved automatically by the new Project Wizard: http://code.google.com/p/google-collections/ You have to download this jar and add it to the project build path
'tis precise, and even as I have basic eclipse IDE, it installed smoothly without the usual request for dependent plugins. Thanks.
hey,
com.google.android.gdata package is not recognised by eclipse. The plugin got installed successfully. But the package is not recognised. Any help would be highly appreciated
