Apologies for the lack of advanced warning and the loss of functionality; a change in the YouTube search index is preventing location-based searches from returning results.
Unfortunately, there is no quick-fix to account for this change. The last I heard we're looking at approximately four weeks before the necessary data to power location-based searches will return.
If anything changes with that estimate, we'll update this issue tracker entry.

Unfortunately, the teams responsible have revised their estimates for when they can get this working again, and they're longer than initially thought. I don't have an exact date to share at this point, but it will not be the mid-April timeframe we initially communicated. Apologies for the continued inconvenienced.

The current estimate is restoring this functionality in the second half of 2013. We do apologize for the continued outage, and we are in the process of updating the public documentation to reflect the lack of current functionality to avoid confusion with new developers.

Is there any update on when this might be fixed? The API is not working. When sending a location and radius, videos with no geo-location are int he results, as well as videos outside the radius.

As the frustrated comments indicate, it would of course be nice to finally have this API fixed. But short of that, could we get another update? The last one I see is from mid-April of 2013, so 5 months ago. Are we still looking at sometime in the second half of 2013 for the fix? Is there any more accurate estimate yet?

I posted 3 months ago. The Issue "Searching for videos with specific geographic coordinates returns no result." still has not been resolved. Thanks again for everyone's extended display of patience.
I do have some good news to report—the backend index that powered these geo-location based video searches has been restored.
E.g.http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos?v=2&prettyprint=true&location=19.748609,-155.419807!&location-radius=1mi will return videos that were explicitly geotagged as being within 1 mile of 19.748609, -155.419807
Please let me know if you run into any issues or incompatibility with your existing implementations.

Glad to see this feature is back. However, I noticed, that the YouTube API has been updated to v3 now. As v3 provides a possibility to set a start/end date for searches, I would like to update to the new API. The documentation does not mention location parameters, is there any possibility?

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but it's the closest thing I can find to what I'm looking for.
I'm managing a global YouTube channel. I want to keep all videos consolidated on one channel, but I only want to serve specific videos from my library to a particular user based on their location/language.
Is that something that is possible with this API? Or if not, is there a solution for that?

You tube you guys stole my web site that I built Erockzapps computer software company... I am dealing with this issue through other means I would like you to know that I am not happy about this identity theft and computer fraud situation that I have. Any programs, program applications, and or networking designs being used from this site are stolen and you have no permissions for. I fully intend to proceed with the active law suit that I have in place for these copyright infringements, system overides, under writing, over writing and identity theft connected to these situations.
