Name of API affected:
Analytics Data Export API

Request summary:
Provide a brief summary of the the feature you'd like to see implemented.

http://groups.google.com/group/google-analytics-data-export-api/browse_thread/thread/e27ac3fd4b0f2cae#

Use Cases:
Describe how you will use this feature if implemented.

Sometimes it's easier to use the fancy Advanced Segment builder in the UI
than to write it by hand. Also this allows predefined segments like
"iPhone" to be referenced.

There are a number of reasons as to why advanced segments should be added to the API.
The first and most important of which is that it allows segments to be reported on in
an automated manner. This will facilitate the analysis of one segment compared to
another. E.g. do visitors from the a particular state have a different product view
to purchase ratio. Currently this type of process is labourious to do via the UI and
hence lends itself to the API.

The second is that adding this feature will allow for scripts to be constructed that
can run a number of scenarios and report on the results.

E.g. which other attributes (keywords, campaigns, etc) work better for visitors from
each state in betting a better product view to purchase ratio.

Dynamically accessing the segments using arbitrary parameters will facilitate this
type of analysis.

Thanks

This has been added through the new "segment" parameter in the Dec, 14, 2009
release. Docs here:
