Please add a Bookmarks API. I am thinking mostly of the possibilities of
connecting Safari/iPhone on Mac with Bookmarks via the programming of an
iSync connector. Currently no decent Safari-Google Bookmarks syncing
services are available.

I also imagine this would lead to better integration and development with
other browsers, and web applications.

Comment 1 by altden, Sep 24, 2007
Please, please make it happen. Please? :)
This would be great not only for iPhone but also for other phones of which there are
plenty.

Is it indecent to beg?

But really, a bookmarks API would save us the trouble of implementing another iGoogle
gadget... which would have no other purpose but allowing bookmarks!
Comment 4 by daan.doi, Oct 16, 2007
Please add an API to Google Bookmarks. This would rock.

Yes! A Google Bookmarks API would be a nice addition. For example, I would love to

Please create a bookmarks api, or documentation on how to perform basic operations in
the absence of an API using REST requests, so that we can add/delete/list bookmarks
from other applications.
Comment 13 by mario.lassnig, Nov 07, 2007
btw, I have seen that my bookmarks show up in my notebook? Is there something "bigger" going on behind the
scenes to consolidate all of this? :-)

I have been waiting to switch to Opera for a long while now, as Firefox issues take
too long to resolve (see img alt-tag debacle), but haven't been able to because the
Bookmarks API has not yet been made available for them to implement it.

Please don't make me lose the great amount of faith, and word of mouth advertising,
I've put into Google. I realise that Firefox and Google have a partnership, this
could be seen as anti-competitive behaviour.
Comment 35 by mario.lassnig, Jan 06, 2008
don't forget Safari!

Once there is an API it's trivial to update the bookmarks in Safari (xml->plist)......

Please do NOT reply just to say "+1".

If you are interested in seeing this fixed, please star the issue. This is what we (Google) use internally to track the
popularity of a request.

All replying with "+1" does is annoy those who have already stared an issue (since if you star an issue, you get
CCed on any comments). This in turn causes people to unstar the issue, effectively reducing the probability of
getting this noticed and implemented.
Comment 131 by aj.slater, Aug 06, 2008
The private by default model for google bookmarks is fine. But there's no way to make
bookmarks public and share them with friends or viewers.

Request public rss feeds by label.

Just a label or a special flag called 'public' that would require no authorization
for the rss (ATOM!) output would make me switch from delicious.

The only other feature delicious has that you don't is a friends concept. But that's
a problem for all Google Applications. I'll bet there's some real gnarly internal
politics surrounding that.

If you are interested in seeing this starred, please EXPLAIN WTF they have to do.

All replying with "star this issue" does is annoy those who have already expressed
their support for fixing this issue. This in turn causes people to forget this whole
issue, along with its stupid, awkward, idiotic Google ranking system, effectively
reducing the probability of getting this noticed and implemented.

Comment 146 by ludo.ael...@gmail.com, Oct 17, 2008
No, you don't. You don't need to say it, Rocketboy.

All of you: please stop saying "+1" (or any other useless comment, such as "that
would be [insert superlative here]" or "for [favorite browser]"), starring an issue
means voting for it, so it's an automatic "+1".

The difference between both is that the number of stars an issue has is automatically
counted, unlike those "+1" comments. This will have more effect on the developers
working on this.

Also, those who star an issue don't get an email every time someone starred it, but
we do get annoying emails every time someone says "+1". Please stop doing that. Thank
you!

I have seen no development of Google Bookmarks for two years, despite the fact that its previously-advertised
successor, Google Notebook, was publicly announced as no longer being developed in January 2009. Google
should either publish an API for Google Bookmarks and get on with it, or else announce publicly that it's no
longer going to be developed.
Comment 169 by itsdiwa, Sep 25, 2009
Two reasons Bookmarks should be of higher priority for Google
>With all the hype about 'being in the cloud', this is a fairly essential feature for transitioning to the cloud
>With the smartphone era, everyone will have a mini computer in their hands. That makes sharing bookmarks
seamlessly, essential.

Google, prioritize it before someone steals the show.
Comment 170 by faustenok, Nov 29, 2009
Google Bookmarks API needed for a develop! Comming up!
Comment 171 by babydraz, Dec 01, 2009
The bare essentials of an API are already there (although could be improved on), all
that is really needed is a method to authenticate. At the very least you could then
grab your own data and make some modifications. Come on Google, sort it out!
