The EML Project element can take an ID attribute. This can be used to link multiple dataset/EML doc instances that are associated in some way with the same project. This might be as a monitoring series - the nature of the association can be described in the Project section itself.
Implementing a projectID field in the Darwin Core Archive to capture the same identifier will also allow easy searching across related datasets.

[Markus]: Establishing projectID and linking it to the EML section sounds ideal to me.Several datasets could use the same project section with the same id in their EML and it would allow to crosslink various datasets. We could even crosslink checklists with occurrences if needed for example to if a area specific checklist was used for sampling.
