Algorithms and problems in building a synthesized taxonomy
Updated Sep 9, 2009 by dprem...@gmail.com
This page is under construction and subject to significant revision.

Introduction

A synthesized taxonomy as used in this site is a machine generated taxonomy that can is created from multiple and usually conflicting source taxonomies. This is a common scenario in aggregators like GBIF, EOL or Catalog Of Life.

The NUB is our best guess for sorting names into provisional taxonomic groups until a more authoritative reference can be identified and integrated.

Please see Nom5NubBuilding for the first experimental procedure.
