Introduction

NormaliseIT is a simple web service for performing a simple but important data validation on taxonomic data files. It checks to ensure that the taxonomic hierarchy in the source data file has integrity. This means, for example, that if a species is referenced in more than one record, that each record contains the same taxonomic hierarchy. If the same species is a member of two different families it does not have hierarchical integrity. Other examples taxa with broken or missing parents.

NormaliseIT was developed by SilverBiology for GBIF.
