Description
The Nomina V workshop is a technical workshop for programmers who are directly involved in merging data tied to different taxonomic treatments into a single hierarchical structure for facilitating data access via search and browse.
Goals
The goals of the workshop are to bring together developers from a number of different initiatives that currently employ methods for reconciling heterogeneous taxonomic data. Methodologies will be presented with the following objectives.
- To develop refined and accurate methods for developing synthesized or merged taxonomies.
- To increase capacity and performance in retrieval and browsing of large taxonomies. Improved taxonomic discovery, download, reporting.
- To develop common methodologies and data structures that facilitate more accurate interchange, particularly at higher taxon levels, of data and services.
- To conclude the meeting with improved and functioning code resulting in improved taxonomic integrity within participant data portals.
- An improved codebase for the development of taxonomic services for participants.
