Ability to split task over different periods of time #134

It is not possible to split a task over different periods of time.
Example: in real world project management a task can run for 5 days, then stop
for 10 days and then resume for another period of 5 days.
GanttProject doesn't allow to indicate multiple start/end dates for the same
task. To achieve this a second (task) line for the same task must be created
which is not intuitive (on the contrary....).

Any help possible on this none?

  • Changed state: Accepted
  • Added labels: Tasks

This problem can easily being bypassed by creating 2 subtasks, and the 2d task
starts 10d after the first one.

In terms of completion calculation, the solution is not so ideal but I found it
doable (for the few cases this occurs)

Looking at some of the comments in the link above, it seems that some of the
users of GanttProject treat it as if they have paid for it and expect great
things, and forget that it is, in fact, free software that someone is kindly
letting them download.

Many thanks

I'd like something like this too. Here you can find how this feature works in
other tools:

I'm interested in the possibility to split a task over different periods of
time.
So I would like to know if such feature will be implemented in the future or
not.
Is there enyone that can advise me?
Thanks
