issue 2 (Deleted or Renamed Character causes looped spam of "Player n...) commented on by mcmoore   -   Actually, I've got a working edit here (but not a very elegant implementation) that is a proof of concept that you can make this work nicely. What I've done is channel capture and filtered when getting the friend does not exist/must be in your faction error, prevent it from printing and remove the name from the list. This at least solves the cannot be found spam and also cleans up the friends list. In addition, you could even print a nice 'You friend has abandoned you, some friend they turned out to be' message :)

issue 2 (Deleted or Renamed Character causes looped spam of "Player n...) changed by sven.kirmess   -   Unfortunately, this is a bug of the WoW client and not this add-on. If a character is newly deleted the server is confused and produces this spam. FriendsShare only adds the character once per login but if the character was deleted not so long ago, the server reports with a storm of "player not found" messages. You can see the same if you disable this add-on, login and try to add a newly deleted character to your friends or ignore list. You should see the same storm. At least I did. In addition to that the WoW API has no way to verify that a character exists. Plus, the WoW API does not report you if a character was added successfully. The only hint is a message like "player not found" in the combat log and this message does not include the name of the player which couldn't been added. This is quite dissatisfactory, but it is an issue with the game client. Even when FriendsShare would parse the combat log to see if the player could have been added, there is no way to know for which player the error message is and if the server has a high load, adding a friend can take a very long time until you see the message. (And there is no way to know when the ignore list is loaded and if you have a player named "Unknown" on your ignore list or if the name is "Unknown" because the list is not completely loaded.) Sucks, yes. But the best solution is to just issue a /friendsshare rebuild if this spam occurs. You won't loose any characters ever while issuing this command because FriendsShare only removes characters you explicitly removed via the WoW GUI. If it finds a new friend it assumes you've added the friend while being logged without the add-on active (e.g. on another computer) and adds this person to all the other characters.

issue 2 (Deleted or Renamed Character causes looped spam of "Player n...) reported by mcmoore   -   What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Add a char 2. Delete or Rename it 3. Endure the spam What is the expected output? I would expect that a not found character is warned about then removed from the list. What do you see instead? Spam about 'Player not found' What version of the product are you using? 12 - Using Curse Updater, sad that new versions don't seem to make it there at the moment. Please provide any additional information below.
