Freebase.com has an open API that can be used to access and update structured data.

This jQuery plugin is used to implement the search box and reconcile user input on edits at Freebase.com. It is now being opened to the community so that any developer can reconcile user input against topics in Freebase.

• Text input autocomplete based on the millions of topics in Freebase
• Narrow searches by type - just show UK Politicians or music artists
• Topic summaries (the disambiguation flyout) - a preview of each item in the menu to help the user decide which item to choose.
• Returns Freebase Topic IDs - "Kennedy High School" and "Kennedy High School" do not refer to the same school.
