Issue 6406: Color display setting doesn't affect color names

Project Member Reported by sebastia...@gmail.com, Apr 28, 2013
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Firebug on https://getfirebug.com/tests/manual/console/joes-original/test.html
2. Switch to the HTML panel and there to the Style side panel

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Inside the Style side panel the background color of the <body> tag is displayed as "cyan" while it should be shown as hex value "#00FFFF".

Tested with FF 20.0.1 + FB 1.11.2 on Win8.

There's a new function in the inIDOMUtils[1] (will be available in FF 23), which allows to convert color names to RGB.

So ... there is no way to show colors as names any more? That doesn't sound too good to me.

This issue is already fixed for a long time, so setting a blocking issue doesn't seem right here. Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

At the moment not. We need to implement that in issue 5507 .

(The blocking status is my trying to copy Mozilla - they set A depends on B if B is a regression introduced from A, for tracking purposes.)

BTW, this doesn't work for colors that don't take up a full value, like e.g. 'border: 1px solid red'. (I don't have time to file an issue right now.)

For reference, that's covered by issue 6730 .

The FBTest css/5507/ issue5507 .js already covers this. Added hint for that in https://github.com/firebug/firebug/commit/cf421a02a2.
