Mirror HW/OS Responsibilities
Updated May 27, 2011 by jfesler

If you are willing to provide a public mirror for test-ipv6.com, you'll need to figure out which model you want to use.

At this time, due to the close proximity to World IPv6 Day, jfesler is unable to personally set up any mirrors. This means that only the first option is viable. -jfesler, May 26 2011.

Fully managed by you

This model is preferred at this time due to jfesler's time not scaling well. If you're able to fully build the mirror, get on the v6code list, and do updates regularly, your help would be tremendously appreciated.

In this model, jfesler has no access.

In this case:

  • You provision your own gear
  • Handle security updates (stay on top of OS needs)
  • You manage installation of software
  • You can modified the content to include your brand/logo.
    • For officially listed mirrors, please keep this done in good taste.
    • footer.inc is probably the easiest place to add a site-wide logo.
  • You keep the mirror current (announcements will be sent to v6code@test-ipv6.com)
  • No outside access is needed.

You may want to see:

Managed by you, updates by jfesler (no sudo)

jfesler has ssh access; but not sudo.

If you are willing to provide the resources, jfesler is willing to maintain the content.

jfesler will:

  • Automate pushing updates to your server (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc)
  • Update .htaccess as needed

Minimally managed by you; mostly by jfesler (with sudo)

Your responsibilities:

jfesler's responsibilities

  • apache setup, with mod_ip, and web server configuration
  • other applications as needed (rsync)
  • update apache as needed
  • Automate pushing updates to your server (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc)
