About

Etude is currently under heavy development. Feedback, translations and any other help would be very appreciated.

I started to write this client, because at the time I couldn't find a client, that supported collection editing. Collections in my opinion are the main advantage of xmms2 over other clients.

Many thanks to the xmms2 developers for providing such a great music player daemon.

Any suggestions are appreciated. You can use the google discussions page, or if you want faster response try irc - freenode.net #xmms2 channel. My nick is l_man (CET timezone)

Etude is based on different types of plugins:

  1. Layout - the main interface
  2. Panels - pluggable panels like Playlist, Medialib browser
  3. Extras - plugins that doesn't require a panel, for example album cover downloader, or notifications

Highlights:

  • plugin system using setuptools
  • profile management
  • ability to connect to a remote daemon
  • graphical collection editor (see screenshots, if you are not familiar with collections concept, click here)
  • start daemon locally if necessary (xmms2-launcher not required)
  • equalizer presets
