The Fast Flower Delivery Use Case in EtalisThis page contains information related to the implementation of the Fast Flowers Delivery Use Case in the ETALIS language. This example was developed as a part of the book: Event Processing in Action, written by Opher Etzion and Peter Niblett. Getting Started with Etalis Language for EventsETALIS is a declarative rule-based language for Complex Event Processing based on Prolog. Using this language, it is possible to specify expressive complex event patterns and execute event streams triggering external complex events during execution. ETALIS Language for Events covers standard CEP operations: event pattern matching, filtering, enrichment, aggregation, transformation, multiplication etc. Apart from this, ETALIS also features database querying and inference capabilities, features useful for: reasoning about events and their temporal and causal relationships, reasoning about the current state (in state-changing environments), aggregate functions and statistics, etc. Prerequisites: install SWI prolog from: http://www.swi-prolog.org/download/stable (Note: SWI has the alarm predicates used by us for the alarm events only starting with version 5.8.0, while older version do not support these calls. If your Linux system has a preinstalled version of swipl, please check if it's 5.8.0 or newer). ETALIS is an open source project and its source code is available for portability and extensibility under the GNU General Public Library License. The source code of the system, including the Flower Delivery use case implementation, can be download from http://code.google.com/p/etalis/source/checkout using Subversion. These souces can also be accessed online at: http://code.google.com/p/etalis/source/browse/etalis. The Etalis user instructions can be found in the "docs/userman" directory under the Etalis home directory. Note that Linux installations have installations of Subversion "svn" programs, while for Windows, we recommend using svn command line, "TortoiseSVN" from http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org or the Subclipse plugin in eclipse. Run The Flower Delivery Use CaseThere are two ways to run the Flower Delivery use case:
The two ".bat" batch files above start Etalis and initialize use cases from the "use_cases" directory. Each test also has a database file (such as: "flower_test_01.db") which specifies data in the database (i.e., "driver_record(driver1,ranking1)") and configuration parameters (i.e., time to wait before triggering alarms, etc.) Please contact Darko Anicic <darko.anicic@fzi.de> and Paul Fodor <pfodor@cs.stonybrook.edu> for any issues and problems with the installation of the Etalis system and the execution of the Flower Delivery use case. |
