Why remove the PPC capability?!

Comment by strov...@gmail.com, Mar 3, 2010

That's not a "Bug Fix", it's a feature removal.

Comment by gunnartu...@gmail.com, Apr 13, 2010

I do agree. let's have back PPC capability.

Indeed the point being making "NewtonOS running on other operating systems" seems to be defeated if you start dropping platforms ! Besides, I was happy to find this project and even more happy when I read "It currently runs on:

  • MacOS X (ppc and x86, 32 and 64 bits)
  • iPhone, iPod and iPad running iOS " at "http://code.google.com/p/einstein/" since I currently have to rely only on a PowerBookG4? PPC and an iPhone 3GS for the time being ...

Paul and folk - where can I send contributions (financial or otherwise)? I'm having a lot of fun seeing that familiar face on my MacPro?'s screen right now and I'm feeling generous! Getting this trimmed down to run on my iPhone 4 would be the ultimate! I still miss the notepad and datebook from my Newton (having a couple of them sitting around in a box doesn't work for me - definitely want to see this on iOS)!

new 'Einstein Network Support Prerelease' also without PPC capability :-(

Comment by project member melcher....@gmail.com, Oct 9, 2010

rootdude: you can send contributions to Paul or me or any other of the developers who may (or may not) check them in. You can also ask Paul for developer access. Please send "diff" files (mm at matthiasm dor com, for example).

boeckerix: well, that is one of the things that makes it a prerelease. I am trying to get thinks sorted out, but this is obviously only a hobby, so I have to fit all development in between job, kids, and life. ;-)
