ubuntu support for the Asus EEE-PC

This project is not maintained anymore (I sold my eeepc). Please drop me a message (benoit.favre@gmail.com) if you want to be a maintainer.

EEE-PC Support in Ubuntu/Gutsy:

  • small fonts, no compiz, fullscreen apps...
  • wifi (based on madwifi)
  • hotkeys
  • overclocking to 900Mhz (using the eee module)
  • webcam
  • suspend-to-ram (WARNING: some users reported that the eee may wake-up if you unplug the power cord while suspended, and even wake up for no reason, and then it may cause heat damage: you should shutdown instead of suspending for long periods)
  • sound
  • other fixes

new in v0.7

  • the mute key is fixed
  • closing the lid now suspends your eee.
  • suspend/sleep timeout (see preferences/power management)
  • brightness hotkeys now works as expected. no more screen dimming or weird brightness setup.
  • video driver to get skype to show the video of both conversation participants (from xandros)

new in v0.6

  • compiz still activated, but allow windows to cross the top of the screen
  • delete old madwifi drivers to ensure they do not show up
  • OSD fixes
  • add software sources

new in v0.5

  • OSD for wifi and overclocking
  • nearly working OSD for brightness
  • disabled overclocking on startup -> press Fn-F6 to reenable

new in v0.4

  • shifted key codes by 128 in asus_acpi module to prevent hotkey conflict
  • updated acpi/hotkey scripts to reflect the key code shift
  • Fn+F6 now toggle overclocking (no feedback yet. if /proc/eee/fsb exist, then you are overclocked)
