EATS is a web application for recording, editing, using and displaying authority information about entities. It is designed to allow for multiple authorities to each maintain their own independent data, while operating on a common base that means information about the same entity is all in one place.

EATS also comes with client tools for automatically looking up entities by name and adding TEI markup.

The server part of EATS is written in Python and built on the Django framework (version 1.0).

EATS in Use

EATS is currently being used in the following places (as known by the developers):

• The New Zealand Electronic Text Centre harvests entity data from their publicly-viewable EATS installation.
• The Centre for Computing in the Humanities is using EATS in several projects in development, including Schenker Documents Online, Register Medicorum Medii Aevi and the Gascon Rolls Project.
