Dotify

Dotify Braille Translation System is an open source Braille translator written in Java.

Components are intended to be available in the Daisy Pipeline 2 project.

Processing steps

Pre processing

1. Hyphenation (Currently completed outside of Dotify, but should be integrated)
2. Input format validation
3. Conversion to OBFL

Main components

1. Validation of OBFL
2. Conversion from OBFL to braille (in PEF-format)

Post processing

1. Volume splitter (development in progress to integrate with main components)
2. Adding cover pages (development in progress to integrate with main components)
3. Finalize
4. Adding additional metadata
5. Validate result (PEF-format. Currently completed outside of Dotify, should be integrated)

Workflow

1. Markup using a format of choice
2. Process format into PEF (with Dotify)
3. Emboss using Braille Utils, Easy Embossing Utility, Daisy Pipeline or CX for Word
