Harvest moon Magical melody for the gamecube has black screen issues with Dx9,dx11 and opengl. The wiki mentions turning off "Ignore format changes", but doing so prevents the game from running. With ifc on, the game will display only black except for the following:

Company Logo's
Dialog
Menu's

Issue occurs with icc optimized build as well as the standard.

This could possibly be your GPU, or it could be the recent awesome-texcache-...whatever-it-is branch.

Which GPU are you using? And can you test on 3.0-702 and 3.0-692 as well? http://dolphin-emulator.com/download.html

With both 692 and 702, black screen.

With both 692 and 702 and ignore format changes unchecked, normal gameplay.


So, it seems something between 702->710 was changed in how ifc works and instead of fixing an issue prevents the game from working at all.

Huh. I guess NeoBrain did break something with that branch.

If you know how to compile Dolphin and use Git to checkout each revision of awesome-fdsjafkdsajfahkdsj to see what exactly broke it, that'd be wonderful. But if you don't, that's fine too.

I'd do it myself if I had the game and if format changes were implemented in OpenGL, but since I don't have the game and I'm stuck on OpenGL here on OS X, I'm of little help.

Hmm, it did happen after a couple of runs, and gets fixed if you enter or exit full screen. Probably something that has to do with format changes, since that option fixed it in the past.

After testing with the standard 710, the issue was not present 100% of the time.
It did appear more often when using dx11 vs dx9.

The issue appears 100% of the time using the intel compiler.
I tested my own ICC builds vs defender-x icc builds, and the issue was present 100% of the time.

Tested defender-x's 692 ICC build, and the issue is not present.

Also try turning Vsync off don't know why but it fixed mine.

This also does not work for me. I am using a mac os x mountain lion and I am unable to uncheck ignore format changes. Is there a fix?

The only fix for this currently is to use the DX9/DX11 backends on Windows, unfortunately. OpenGL still doesn't have Format Changes implemented, even after its rewrite. :P

OGL has ignore format changes, and has for a while.  Game works fine in OGL.
