The MMI Device Ontology group is a community effort to develop an ontology of oceanographic sensors. Our goal is to develop an ontology of oceanographic devices, including both sensors (which measure things) and samplers (which pick up things). The first priority is to be able to broadly characterize the devices (i.e., sort them into groups). One significant use of such characterizations is to help users (or web applications) discover sensors or data of interest. We use Google Code to:
Note: previous action items were kept in the mmisw project tracker under the 'OntDev' label: http://code.google.com/p/mmisw/issues/list?can=1&q=label%3DOntDev The main page of the group is hosted by the Marine Metadata Interoperability project at: http://marinemetadata.org/community/teams/ontdevices MMI DevOnt holds telecon meetings every other week. Minutes can be found at: http://marinemetadata.org/node/2307/documents/Minutes Previous versions of the Device Ontology, and other artifacts (eg., the MMI Platform Ontology) can be found at the SVN repository in SourceForge: http://mmi.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mmi/mmisw/ |
