What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Upgrade the DartEditor to 1.5.1.release on Windows
  2. Try to launch Dartium
    3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
A popup with "Dartium Launch Error":
Could not launch browser: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "C:\dart\chromium\Chrome.exe": CreateProcess error=14001, The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail

And in the EventViewer
Activation context generation failed for "C:\dart\chromium\chrome.exe". Dependent Assembly 34.0.1847.0,language="*",type="win32",version="34.0.1847.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Editor: 1.5.1.release (2014-06-24)
OS: Windows 8 - amd64 (6.2)

Please provide any additional information below.

Why was 19659 merged into this issue? They really don't appear to be the same. Can you explain why you think they are the same?

If you launch chrome (C:\dart\chromium\Chrome.exe) directly from windows, does it launch?

No, it does not launch neither. There is an error popup:
"The application has failed to start..."

Hmm, it appears you have something inconsistent on your system. The "34.0.1847.0" you're seeing is the chrome version related to Dart release 1.4. Do you have an older Dartium binary running? Did you have one running when upgrading to 1.5?

This issue has come on windows for Chrome (and other apps): https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/-VScH_qmXc8

On this thread, a re-install appears to be the simplest solution.

There are also instructions on using the Microsoft's sfc tool:

I downloaded a fresh sdk and it works now.

It seems that other people have seen this too:

@xavier.hainaux,

Did you have Dartium running when the update process was started?

@keertip: I'm not 100% sure but this is very likely since chromium is running most of the time on my machine.
