If you are creating your own images you'd probably like to know what size they should be. That is what this list seeks to provide.

Naming Notes

Image names cannot contain dashes "-" other than to group two images together in a set, ie. CarrierImages below. The dash has a special meaning and will break if used other than what it is intended for.

Dock Background Images

Width: 320px Height: 91px

Carrier Images

Width: Variable as needed Height: 20px

Notes: Save the image that will look good on a black background as mycarrier.png, and the one that looks good on white background as mycarrier-1.png. I have had good results using Arial font for this graphic.

WiFi Images

Width: 20px Height: 20px

Notes: The WiFi image set consists of 8 images as follows:

Your File Name Description Intended Background Color
yourfile.png No Signal White
yourfile-1.png one "bar" White
yourfile-2.png two "bars" White
yourfile-3.png full "bars" White
yourfile-4.png No Signal Black
yourfile-5.png one "bar" Black
yourifle-6.png two "bars" Black
yourfile-7.png full "bars" Black

Badge Images

Width: 29px Height: 30px

Bar Dialer Image

See This Tutorial for information on how to create a custom keypad dialer.

Battery Images

Width: 264px Height: 129px

Notes: The battery image set consists of 17 images, named yourname.png, yourname-1.png, ..., yourname-16.png. Because I think it would look better (you'll see) yourname.png is actually the 17th image, and all the other numbers correspond.

Sound Images

Width: 87px Height: 88px

Chat Balloons

Width: 43px Height: 32px

Slider Images

Width: 70px Height: 47px

Notes: The sound image set consists of four images whose names are described here:

yourname.png Ring Image
yourname-1.png Mute Image
yourname-2.png Silent Image
yourname-3.png Speaker Image

Is it possible for you to make a PSD with guides to explain how the chatbubbles expand in size? Or even a description would be great!

Comment by NetMage.SCW, Oct 03, 2007

It would be good to mention the files on the phone Default = White BG, FSO = Black BG and that Bars uses 12 files similar to WiFi?

How would we publish a "pack" of images? I've created sliders, battery meters, sound images and dialer images. Thanks!

Comment by shaiss, Oct 09, 2007

What about Keypad Images? How do you make those?

Comment by micahaci, Oct 19, 2007

LongJasonM: if you've already made a package of images you can "publish" it on your website or something, but that wouldn't be too helpfull to most people, you whould consider adding your program to one of the "community sources" in the Installer.app program so that you images can be downloaded by the majority of customize users. This link: http://iphone.nullriver.com/ has info on how to create a package for the installer.app, as for what to do with that package once you've made it, i'm not sure. Check out the "source" pannel in the Install.app and look for some links. =micah

I tried adding some custom keypads I downloaded from modmyiphone (and was using successfully pre 1.1.1) but the phone keypad isn't changing. What naming convention needs to used in order to use keypads in Customize? I can see and choose the preview images fine but even after it restarts the Springboard, there's no change.

Comment by memaddog, Oct 23, 2007

If we're gonna use Customize to select calculators, I think it's functionality needs to be improved. There are 5 images that make up the calculator (from default.png to ring.png). I made this one if anyone wants:

Comment by drew.epperley, Nov 13, 2007

i second that...i miss the hidden icons feature...there were some things that I didn't want to see clutter up my screen...please bring that feature back!!

Comment by benitos, Nov 25, 2007

what if you disable the view customizer and the installer and you lose other buttons how can i get back into customizer?

Comment by beyer...@yahoo.com, Dec 14, 2007

i downloaded the customize package through installer but when i open customize app it just has the backup images...what do i do? i would like to be able to customize using the different images. i am running firmware 1,1,1 and 1.20 of customize

Comment by ortizlgnd, Dec 17, 2007

Ok, I'd like to make my own images. But I'm lost as far as what to name each file. Do I name all of them either yourfile.png, yourfile-1.png, yourfile-2.png and so on? Or do I name them the coresponding app's name?

Comment by agoner, Dec 19, 2007

I have problems with carrier logo. Good size, good names, good format, good location. I'am in france and using "Orange F" i select the pngs in customize but it does not appear when it restarts.

Comment by andreas.delgaldo, Dec 25, 2007

Hi - is it possible to change the amount of icons, showing on one site with summerboard? I wanted to show just 13 icons, the 14th should be shown as first on the second page?

How can I do that?

Thanks

Comment by vk1991, Jan 20, 2008

It appears that the HUD is simply for the volume on or off feature. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Excellent application, I am awaiting the release of the new version. So can we get a news update on the status? The SDK was released about a week ago.
