ProblemsAndTroubleshooting
Below you will find a series of common problems and various solutions to those problems (if they exist). If you don't see your problem listed, or the solutions don't work for you, please contact us. My data is gone?!Problem: When you open the software, your data is missing and you're just presented with an empty list even though your data and crop plans were alive and well when you last used the software. There are two possible causes:
(this section covers version Beta1 (at least) and was last updated 2/7/09) What are these funny CPSdb filesThe files CPSdb.script and CPSdb.properties are your data. Do not delete them. (this section covers version Beta1 (at least) and was last updated 2/7/09) Can't create a new planProblem: you click the "Change Plans" button and try to create a new crop plan, but the "Create" button doesn't work or is greyed out. This is a known issue and will be fixed in the Beta2 release. (this section covers version Beta1 (at least) and was last updated 2/7/09) |
yeah...the problem is not missing files. the prolem is once you close the program it is impossible to open again. Nothing will open the file so all the work isw wasted. Once you guys can figure out how to let us actually use this program more than once and actually use it like a real program please let us know. Entering all the data takes time and it would really be nice to be able to re-open the program again once it has been closed.
don't seem to be able to save crop data. can enter it, but doesn't seem to save it. did not encounter the problem of not being able to open planting data base.
ok, my previous comment on not being able to save crop data was due to "operator error". seems to work properly now.
biggest issue I'm having is the maturity days does not seem to propagate from cropDB to cropPlans. have to manually reenter the maturity for each planting. perhaps this is a "feature" but is very tiresome given you've already entered all the cropDB data. so then you have to flip back and forth between the tabs (cropPlan and cropDB) to locate the maturity days to enter in the crop plan.
otherwise, it's looking like it will be most useful.
thanks.
@mysitemail: all you have to do to reopen the program is double click the wheelhoe icon, cropplanning.exe on Windows or CropPlanning? app on Mac. Please give us some more info so that we can help you. No one else has ever reported a problem like that, but it sounds very fixable.
@leermason: maturity days should propagate from the db to your crop plans. The crop name and (optional) variety name must match exactly what your entered in the db, but the autocomplete for those fields should help with that.
lost my data files. the output directory wasn't changed, so it may be the program reinitialized the data base files. I had exported csv files for both the crop data base and crop plans, but the program will not import them (the csv files previously exported) for some reason (tried all possible directories I could think of, but no joy).
@leermason: CSV import doesn't seem to be working these days. Export can be useful to load stuff into a spreadsheet, but import looks like a no go or now. As for losing data files, the program checks for the existence of your data files in the specified folder before creating new ones, so it's very unlikely that it would overwrite your old files with new blank ones.
