IntroductionXorg autoconfiguration on some Mac models still does not work, leaving the user at a blank screen and having to manually configure their display. Not good. Presets is a program that will be invoked by hitting Control-Alt-F1 and typing "Xorgpresets". It will check /proc/cpuinfo to discover which Mac model you are using. If your Mac has a built-in display, Presets will replace your faulty Xorg.conf with an appropriate alternative. If it doesn't know your Mac model, or if you have an external monitor, it will run 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg'. Upon closing, it will restart X. Looking for HelpXorg Presets goal has been deferred until after Community Preview release Currently, we are looking for a lot of help with this! We need the following: - cat /proc/cpuinfo
- cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
- Macintosh model
from a properly-configured Macintosh running any Linux. I already have information from: - iMac G3, 333 MHz tray-load. (First generation, Rev C)
Someone who can write some Python or Bash to make this automagic work should contact 3rdalbum at www.ubuntuforums.org.
