I noticed that MTP is disabled by default. Try turning on MTP by going to Settings > Storage > Menu (Upper right hand corner) > USB computer connection > Media Device (MTP). Turning this on fixed me getting a generic "MTP USB Device" listed for the Touchpad, and instead it now shows up as cm_tenderloin. Hope this helps!

Oh, and I should have mentioned previously that this was on Windows 7 x86, not 64-bit. But nevertheless I hope it solves your problem!

Well, I take that back. I could mount the SD card but ADB would not work. To fix this with the Google drivers, I edited the android_winusb.inf file included with the Google USB Drivers and added: ; HP TouchPad %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_6860&REV_0227&MI_01 %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_6860&MI_01 after the last lines of the [Google.NTx86] and [Google.NTamd64] sections. I right clicked the unknown cm_tenderloin device in Device Manager, told it to update drivers, and pointed it to C:\android-sdk-windows\extras\google\usb_driver. From there it picked up my changes and allowed the ADB USB Device to be installed! :) I have attached my android_winusb.inf file as well.

so, following the steps above i was able to solve the issue. I: 1) Turned on MTP, which was disabled by default (as in Comment 1) 2) Used the android_winusb.inf provided (as in Comment 3) 3) Updated the drivers in Device Manager (as in Comment 3) 4) At that point adb recognized my device(YAY) but in an offline state(BOO) which didn't allow eclipse to run my app on the cmtouchpad. So, I . . . 5)Rebooted the cmtouchpad at which point adb recognized it as a device in "device" state. I was then able to run my project from eclipse on my cmtouchpad. This is on win7_x64. Thanks for the help, I'd have never gotten that on my own.

These steps should follow the "How to Install" instructions on a wiki. It was surprisingly difficult to find this information :)

I am facing the similar problem and my operating system is windows 7 64-bit. I followed the above mention steps but my device is not recognised by eclipse though the device mananger show that the cm_tendeerloin driver is upto date. Even My touch pad is showing it is in debugging mode. Any solutions ?

For comment number 1: When you click on Settings, then click storage, there is no menu option on the upper right hand corner so i cant do the next steps. I am currently using: android version : 4.3.1 kernel version : 2.6 35-palm tenderloin mod version ev_tenderloin nightly 2013 11 10 build number ev_tenderloin - eng 4.3.1 jls361 After installing this i can connect my HP touch pad to my lap top (using windows 7 64bit). Everytime i connect my laptop it says mtp usb device failed. And in the device manager its listed under portable devices with a yellow exlamtion point on it. Does any one have any solutions? i wanted to transfer pdf and music to my hp touchpad and i cant connect to it.
