You probably have to click away one of these annoying "unsigned drivers" dialogs:
If a reboot is required, you will be asked. After the installation is finished, it's a good time to get rid of the remnants of the official C-Media drivers, e.g. the memory eating mixer.exe in your Windows folder. Vista Configuration (not necessary on Windows 2000 / XP)Once the driver has been installed, open up the "Sound" applet in the control panel and select your default output:
The SPDIF Interface must be the default device if you want AC3/DD passthrough. Then open up the properties page of the SPDIF Interface and choose which audio formats should be passed through the digital connectors to your receiver:

Heya. Question: is this driver worth using for those of us who, currently, just use an analogue RCA cable to connect their AV receiver? Or is it more for people with digital connections?
it's more aimed at people using the digital interfaces since the analog interfaces of cmedia devices are usually crap.
Do I need to uninstall oryginal C-Media drivers first?
Just installed for my cheap (very) Asound Asonic L-8738-6C 5.1 PCI Sound Card. Your driver solved all the issues with Windows being unable to configure my sound card to work in anything except stereo. Great project!
