Chrome Version (from the about:version page): 10.0.648.18
Is this the most recent version:
OS + version: Gentoo
CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): 64bit
Window manager: pekwm
Flash version: Shockwave Flash 10.2 d161

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Youtube
2. Play Flash video

What is the expected result?
Video should play smoothly

What happens instead?
The video is choppy and plays with low frame rates and progress bar animation lags. Flash video on other sites are fine, and embedded youtube videos also play perfectly fine. Pasting the embedded link to my browser address bar works fine too

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot
and backtrace if possible.

I just tried youtube flash in Firefox and didn't hit the same problem using the same flash plugin.

Nevermind, after exiting Firefox and trying again, the video plays jerkily. This only happened a day or two ago, but I haven't changed my system in any way for a while now. The problem could just be youtube.

I have the same issue, youtube is choppy as all hell. Issue started a few days ago. Every video on Youtube is choppy and performing poor. I have no problem with Safari or Firefox watching the same videos.

OS: Mac OS X (10.6.6)
Chrome 9.0.597.107
Flash (2 files) - Version: 10.2.154.13
Shockwave Flash 10.2 r154

Follow up to my above comment. I just fixed the problem.

I disabled the _newer_ version of flash:
Name:	Shockwave Flash
Description:	Shockwave Flash 10.2 r154
Version:	10.2.154.13

I kept this _older_ version enabled..and now it works:
Name:	Shockwave Flash
Description:	Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152
Version:	10.2.152.33

Disabling the newer flash version did not solve the problem for me. YouTube is now unusable in Chrome on my machine. The picuture freezes like once every second.

OS: Mac OS X 10.6.6
Chrome 10.0.648.127 (also tried non beta Chrome)
Disabled Flash: 10.2.154.18
Enabled Flash: 10.2.152.33

I have found a tiny workaround if you still want to use chrome/chromium to view youtube. You'll have to click videos with "Open in incognito window" and it plays reliably. However, if you simply log into youtube via incognito and view videos as you normally would, it will again begin to lag.

Chrome Version: 13.0.782.32 beta
OS: Ubuntu 11.04
CPU Arch: AMD 64bit
Flash Version: 10.3.181 (included with Chrome)
Window Manager: All
GPU + Driver: Radeon 4200 (IGP) + fglrx

I've been experiencing this for a while now too. Every time I update Chrome (from Google official channel) and the Flash version increments my video quality seems to go down even further. Videos seem to play mostly fine in small/embedded form but are so choppy/laggy when full screened that they're practically unwatchable. I also notice the YouTube menus being extremely slow and unresponsive when in full screen mode.

I'm not sure what version of Flash is being shipped with Chrome these days, but I suspect it's still the 32bit version plus a wrapper. I found my problem appears to have completely gone away once I replaced the built in version with a native 64 bit one manually installed from Adobe Labs.

I'm now running Flash 10.3.162 (native 64 bit) and everything works great again. So, I suggest Google start shipping the native 64 bit version for your 64 bit Linux users (at very least to those of us in the beta and dev channels).

This problem reappears recently. I can confirme this issue on Chrome 21.0.1171.0 dev-m. All .flv video playback are lag in Chrome.

Other browsers (Safari, Firefox) are ok.

Flash version: 11,3,31,109

I have had the same issue through the past 2 or 3 upgrades (I look for upgrades once daily). I'm currently on 22.0.1183.1. Youtube video works fine in other browsers but is extremely choppy in Chrome. I can see my receiver detecting and losing an audio signal over the SPDIF 1-2 times per second when a video is on. When I join the Youtube HTML5 trial and view an HTML5 compatible video the issue is not present.

Closing old bug as obsolete.

@11, @12: This is an old bug (about old versions of Flash). There are other bugs for more recent issues.
