Reported by pen...@gmail.com, Aug 15, 2010
Chrome Version : 6.0.472.25 (Official Build 55113) dev

Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
     Safari 4: FAIL
  Firefox 3.x: FAIL
         IE 7: FAIL
         IE 8: FAIL

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open browser
2. open 40+ tabs or huge enough to reduce their size to the minimum width
3. the hovered tab will have a larger width (maybe other features can implement for this as well)

What is the expected result?

What happens instead?

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

Right now it will zoom correctly but I'm not sure how to add new preference for adjusting the values for this zoom.

@pennsu, thanks for working on this. Since this work will affect the UI design of
Chrome, you should definitely get agreement from the UI team before investing too
much effort into this. You should probably get a UI team opinion about this by
asking on http://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-dev and also please
submit any code changes according the code submission procedures as outlined in:
http://dev.chromium.org/developers/contributing-code

To summarize that page:
- First get an opinion on whether what you're doing is desirable
- File a bug about the work in question to track it (you have this bug already)
- Create a changelist for your change(s). Upload it.
- Find a reviewer. Mark those people as reviewers. Then "publish + mail comments"
to let them know they have a review.
- Once everything is acceptable, ask your reviewer to commit.

Sure. I will definitely do that. I think I will need more polishing for the zoom also discussion for it before really submitting for code review.

These are very interesting ideas! We are going to begin experimenting with different tab overflow and management systems shortly. I would love to play with this some more. Note that with any adjustment to a core feature like the Chrome tabstrip we would need to experiment/live with it for a while before committing to ship it beyond dev. I will post some information to chromium-dev this week sometime outlining the experimentation framework.

Thanks for taking interests in my design. I would like to see chrome be improved with better design. If you want my latest source just tell me where I should place it at which would be the most appropriate and convenient.

Good ideas. Might i add that couldn't the hover work for any tab thats smaller than the maximum default size, and that it zooms to its default maximum size on hover.
