It would be awesome if this is some simple cut-and-paste bug or something in our menu implementation code on Mac, and not some deep problem like Mac OSX doesn't support radio items in native context menus.

Upon further investigation, it is possible that this is actually an intentional design consideration since many system menus on Mac seem to use the check mark for radio items. I have a small patch to use the radio bullet on Mac (NSMenuItem supports it) at

and have attached a screenshot of what this looks like with it. I'll contact our UI leads and ask them to determine if this is a desirable change to make or not.

Looking at the Edit -> Spelling and Grammar menu or the View -> Text Encoding menu, I'd say the check marks are standard for the platform.  I don't think we need to change anything here.
