Is it possible to get per-tab ctrl+f behavior? I often have two windows or tabs side-by-side and it would be very useful to have different ctrl+f highlighting in different windows.

I'm using a mac.

The mac has one system-wide find pasteboard (which you can write to by selecting text and hitting cmd-e. cmd-g will search for the text in the find pasteboard. Using any search box in any app will also transparently write to that find pasteboard).

Since there's a single global find pasteboard, searches are OS-global.
