I merged it a little while ago as r54985 (which I had to merge manually due to a conflict, and now that I look at it, I see I botched the description. But it is the right patch)

Looks like you keep getting duplicates on this issue. Having created a duplicate myself, I believe the problem is the following.

When searching for an issue before creating a new one, I naturally used the default search for "Open Issues". But this issue, and all the other duplicates do not show up in the results. You need to explicitly do a search for "All issues" to find this one and all the others.

So I don't think you get so many duplicates because this issue does not have the right keywords or because submitters don't do a search first. It's more that they don't think to search over "All issues".

And as the issue is fixed in the repo but no release is available yet, it's inevitable that some people will think of the issue as likely to be still "open"...

Maybe there should be extra tags in addition to "Fixed": "unreleased", "unreleased-stable", etc... And by default, until a fix is released to everyone, issues should show up in default searches.

Eric: I mostly agree. I've long wished that you'd get keywords from duped bugs added to the main bug. That is https://code.google.com/p/support/issues/detail?id=3784 There also seem to be a few other ideas for reducing dupes in general at https://code.google.com/p/support/issues/list You may star the ones you like :)

The text is no longer garbled for me in 6.0.472.25 dev, but the lines through the world and star symbols are still there.

This is a two part issue.
Just one of them (omnibox suggest) was fixed in 6.0.472.25 dev.
Line through star or favicon still there.

claudiobastos:

Yes. In my duplicate (sorry :p) 51509 where I mentioned only the star, globe, and 'press tab to search' having lines through them, Satoshi.Matsuzaki posted that "This will be fixed in upcoming 6.0.472.27 or later".

In 51526, where the reporter mentioned only the garbled text, Satoshi posted that "This issue (text above suggestions) had been fixed in 6.0.472.25 already. Please check for update."

So I don't think there is any misunderstanding, and I don't think anyone mistakenly things the star and that are fixed in the current version when they're not. Expecting last part of the problem to be resolved soon.
