Chrome Version : 4.0.295.0 (Chrome Frame)
URLs (if applicable) : http://code.google.com/chrome/chromeframe/
Other browsers tested: IE6 (virtual pc), IE8 32-bit
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 4:
Firefox 3.x:
         IE 6 (vpc): OK
IE 7:
         IE 8: 64-bit: FAIL, 32-bit: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Google chrome frame from within IE8 64-bit on Windows 7
2. Installation completes successfully.
3. Navigate to cf:http://google.com/ (or some other url using chrome frame)

What is the expected result?

Desired page is rendered in the chrome frame.

What happens instead?

Error page: "The address is not valid"

After a successful installation on IE8 64-bit (under Win7) chrome frame is
still not usable within the 64-bit version of IE. However, without any
additional installation step chrome frame appears to work correctly from the
32-bit version of IE8. If tried this on two separate computers (both running
Win7 x64) with the same results. If chrome frame is restricted to only the
32-bit version of IE8 this should be mentioned on the install page, currently
there is no such indication.

Most browsers only run in 32-bit, this is because most plugins don't have 64-bit
versions. ChromeFrame is probably 32-bit since Chrome is.

For reference, here's my user-agent strings,

for IE8 x64:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR
2.0.50727; SLCC2; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0)

and IE8 32-bit:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR
2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0) chromeframe/4.0

I suppose it would be possible to check these and disable download of Chrome Frame for
the 64-bit version.

megazzt is correct. See
http://groups.google.com/group/google-chrome-frame/browse_thread/thread/20de4f28fe7521c9#ced6623874d3f187

"Currently, Chrome Frame, does not support 64bit versions of IE. Using 32bit IE on Windows 7 does work
though."

Can this issue be closed?
