This fails with Safari 3.1, Firefox 3 and Opera on Windows. Probably a flash plugin
issue.

Comment 3 by jam@chromium.org, Sep 09, 2008
Are you sure? It works for me in Safari and Firefox, and if I enable in-process plugins. Looks like it's related to
our invalidate throttling. I'm debugging it..

Hi guys! My site doesn't shows the Windows Media controls under the video, the images
shows normally. When I use Safari, Opera, IE, everything it's ok. Anybody can help
me?
Comment 5 by jam@chromium.org, Sep 10, 2008
Can you provide a url?

I tracked this issue down to how we throttle invalidates until we get a paint. It seems that an invalidate is sent
from a plugin but WebKit decides that that region is clipped (since there's an out div with overflow: hidden) and
doesn't send a paint. So the plugin keeps queuing up the invalidate rects.

So far this doesn't look like it impacts a lot of sites, so we'll just punt this until the near-term fix of improving
windowless painting lands. It'll fix this issue.

Looks like the videos from http://3dinwales.blogspot.com/ are working fine with build Google Chrome 0.2.149.30 (2200)

This will be regressed back to the original non-working behaviour today. I'll look
into it after that some more.
Comment 11 by mal.chromium, Sep 29, 2008
Deprecate Area-Plugins label in favor of Area-WebKit and a separate Plugins
label (reducing number of Area- labels).

This should be fixed in one of the recent builds:

http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-xp/2744/chrome-win32.zip

No need to uninstall Chrome -- just download and unzip this file, and run
"chrome.exe" inside the extracted folder. Please give this a try and see if it helps
solve the problem for you.

Thanks for the report!

I have a dev channel version 0.3.154.0.

I have just reproduced the issue in question on www.rutube.ru: video starts playing
and stops after 1 second.

reproducible always. unfortunately :(.
Comment 14 by jam@chromium.org, Oct 03, 2008
Fix sent out for review.
Comment 15 by venkataramana@chromium.org, Oct 13, 2008
Looks like I can still reproduce it for some of the videos.

--Navigate to http://3dinwales.blogspot.com/
--Search for the word "Castle" and play the video underneath it.

FF2.x, Safari3.x, IE7.x works fine.

Looks like there is really some inconsistent behavior over here. Just noticed, even
some times, I could not able to play the video in FF2.x and Safari3.x too. BUT I'm
so lucky to say, got the video played in Chrome just once too. Looks like we need to
have more attention over here.
Comment 17 by gwilson@chromium.org, Oct 14, 2008
Finnur was also able to reproduce this issue in 154.

Same repro steps as before. Killing the Flash process and refreshing the window
makes the video work again.

This works fine on ToT. Reopen if you have a reproducible scenario that doesn't work
on ToT.

I can still reproduce the issue on rutube.ru.

basically if I have many windows open (about 8) with some tabs in them, some of them
gmail, and open rutube.ru, the video always stops after 1 second.

version 0.3.154.3 (Official Build 3339)

Comment 20 by finnur@chromium.org, Oct 16, 2008
Hmm... That's unfortunate. Lets see if John can repro it given your instructions.

Tested lots of links on http://3dinwales.blogspot.com/ also using words - "Castle"

Also tested video on www.rutube.ru

Works fine on physical desktop but works slow and some time hangs for a while on
Laptop.

Comment 22 by mahaniok, Oct 24, 2008
it works in most cases for me as well - the bug didn't reproduce for a week or so.
But today I hit it again - nothing plays on rutube.ru.
version is 0.3.154.3
Comment 23 by gwilson@chromium.org, Oct 24, 2008
Mahaniok, what version of Flash are you running?

We think that this might be a Flash 9 issue (also observable in Firefox).
Labels: Mstone-1.0
Comment 24 by gwilson@chromium.org, Oct 24, 2008
This is a bug within Flash 9. Should be fixed and verified with both Flash 10.

Comment 25 by mahaniok, Oct 25, 2008
I run Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124. Though, I never observed this issue in Firefox.

I will set up Flash 10 to check if it fixes.
